Department of Computer Science

The study of computers and computing, as well as their theoretical and practical applications, is known as computer science.

The principles of mathematics, engineering, and logic are used in a wide range of activities in computer science, including algorithm creation, software and hardware development, and artificial intelligence.

Students would employ technology learning to solve problems and plan for the future. They would also construct applications by writing and programming software. Their main focus, however, is on validating and developing models for human-computer or software-device interaction

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

andidates are admitted for the above course on the basis of their paper qualification and work experience. However, the general admissions into National Diploma programmes are:

  1. SSCE/GCE ordinary level or its equivalent with credit passes in five subjects relevant to the programme obtained at not more than two sittings.
  2. Five credit passes in relevant subjects obtained at the final examination of an NBTE recognized preliminary National Diploma (PRE-ND) programme offered in Polytechnic or similar Tertiary Technical Institution.
  3. A satisfactory score in the UMTE examination which is conducted annually by JAMB.

General Entry Requirement for ND Programmes

The general requirement for a National Diploma is 5 o/level credits (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or equivalents) in not more than two sittings and a pass in JAMB UTME for the appropriate year of entry. Another mode of entry is a pass of the NVC (National Vocational Certificate) from an approved institution.

Specific Requirements for each Programme
  • 5 O/Level credits including Mathematics, English, one from Physics, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Info. Tech.
  • and any 2 from Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Technical Drawing, Economics, Further Mathematics and other technical/Science subjects in not more than two sittings.
